Azores holiday - self catering accommodation on Faial Island

Two separated charming  houses for holiday rental. The cottages Azalea and Faia, are located in the luxuriant village of Capelo which is an ideal location for relaxing, fishing, hiking and sight-seeing.

The property is in the locality of Areeiro, on the island south side, just 9km from the airport and 18 from Horta town.  Despite being very small, Areeiro has a mini market and a local restaurant  which are 5 minutes walking away from the cottages.

 

The sea is in the horizon and the Varadouro bay, just 2km away,  is a special place to dive, fish, swim in the natural pool, walk on the shore or just lay under the sun. At Capelinhos cape, visit the Interpretation Centre, discover the old lighthouse ruins, climb up to the top of the volcano, swim in the old whale hunting port, watch the birds and endemic flora.

 

Azores is not a beach destination or otherwise susceptible to mass tourism; indeed, its capricious climate (3 seasons in one day) probably impedes the flow of tourists. The islands' green volcanic mountains and picturesque black-and-white towns look set to remain unspoiled. Let us keep it this way.
